Conroy Hockey Products and Services:

Conroy Hockey began 21 years ago in 2006.

Since 2006 then I have learned and expanded my products and services and I now offer a complete range of Products and Services for a wide range of Players and Teams, offered 12 months of the year.

The only thing we don’t do is train goalies, but they are welcome to participate in our programs for significantly reduced fees.

CLINICS:

Schedule               Signup

Clinics are typically offered from March to Sept and at Christmas time. They are typically 1 to 3 days of training spread over 5 days and often include On Ice, Classroom, Off-ice and Video Training,

I offer the following Clinics at various times:

Battle Clinics. Battle Clinics are for Players aged 8 – 12, players that are NOT in hit hockey but that understand the need to battle and to be physical. This clinic has Classroom, Off-ice and On-ice and a follow along handout. The kids love this program.

  1. Battling is a huge part of Hockey and we cover that and teach them all about Battling in Hockey on and off the ice.
  2. Being physical and participating physically is a huge part of hockey success. The kids LOVE this camp.

Checking Clinic. This is my favorite clinic to teach as it accomplishes so much in just 9 hours.

The clinic focuses on Player Safety and proper checking and etiquette. It additionally teaches the big kids how to avoid penalties and the small kids how to check effectively.

I enjoy empowering players, and I have help them to acquire enormous confidence upgrades in just 9 hours. When I am done the fear is gone and the confidence is installed and yep most are sore as they experience 5 to 600 checks in 9 hours.

This 9-hour course is spread over 3 days in a 5-day week. The clinic is very physical (checking is the most physical part of the game) and thorough and kids will receive and deliver over 5 – 600 checks during the clinic.

Checking is a huge skill and has a significant downside (injuries). The kids are ready for anything when I am done with them.

Both very big and very small kids benefit from this program. The focus is on protecting oneself and checking effectively and of course toughness matters.

The clinic is open to ages 10+.

There is:

  1. 4.5 hours of Classroom and Off-ice training and
  2. 4.5 hours of on ice training.
  3. A course handout.

Players should be fit to excel at this clinic.

Defence Clinics. I have experienced that Defence is completely underserved in the Minor Hockey community and worse kids are being taught wrong concepts.

I have created 4 clinics and each clinic will teach 3 or more skills to ensure they are learned effectively I recommend getting your players started early to avoid the implanting of bad habits.

These clinics are held over 3 days and consist of:

  1. A Digital Handout to use with the Video and Classroom training, lots of “fill in the blanks”.
  2. Video Training.
  3. Classroom time review the drills and why.
  4. On ice training.

Taking these clinics will quickly add skills to your D-man.

  1. Players aged 9 to 17 are welcome, the Players will be partnered with a player of their calibre.
  2. Each clinic will have the following 5.75 hours over 3 days, typically Monday, Tuesday & Thursday.
    1. Day 1 Monday: 1.0 hours of Video Training via a Zoom Call. Here we will review the key aspects of the specific D camp.
    2. Day 2 Tuesday 1.0 hour in the classroom and off ice then 1.5 hours on ice.
    3. Day 3 Thursday: 30 minutes of classroom then 1 x 1.5 hours of on ice then 0.25 hours for review after the clinic.

Defence Clinic A, Intro to D: This clinic teaches defence basics such as:

  1. COMMUNICATION, body, head and hands positioning, inside/outside, strong/weak d, 1 on 1, angling, 2 on 1 and basic backwards skating and passing skills.

Defence Clinic B, D in the D zone: This clinic teaches defense in the defensive zone.

  1. Communication
  2. D zone entry & puck retrieval.
  3. D zone breakouts.
  4. Net front battles.

Defence Clinic C, D in the O zone: This clinic teaches Defence in the offensive zone.

  1. When & how to pinch
  2. Options at the O blue line.
  3. Getting up ice ASAP!

Defence Clinic D: NO TURNOVER D.

  1. Neutral Zone, no turnovers.
  2. D Zone, no turnovers.
  3. O Zone exit & recovery.

Note 1: Before taking Clinic, B, C or D players should take Clinic A.
Note 2: There is no charge for a goalie that wishes to attend. There is value for the Goalies.
Note 3: For D clinics I often bring out Forwards who pay $ 30.00 to make the drills better.

Face Off Clinic. There are 60 to 75 faceoff per game. Let’s win them ALL! The clinic focus is on Communication, Tactics and Techniques so that we can plan, twin the faceoff and execute the plan.

  1. The most sought after elite hockey player is the centerman. And if you can win 75% of your faceoffs there is a spot for you higher up.
  2. The clinics focus on the role of the center ice man. The clinic is 1.25 hours of classroom and off ice and 2 hours of on ice training.
  3. There is a 9-page handout and all aspects of winning the face off properly will be covered.

Forechecking & Backchecking Clinic: A great forechecking line can wreak havoc on the other team and Backchecking is what the smartest players all do quietly. A great backcheck may go unnoticed but your D-men will love you for it and you will be scored on less.

This clinic is held over 3 days and consists of:

  1. Digital handout to use with the Video and Classroom training, lots of fill in the blanks.
  2. Video Training
  3. Classroom time review the drills and why.
  4. On ice training.
  5. After skate review.

We will learn how to effectively forecheck and then transition to the backcheck seamlessly.

Tryout Tuneups: Offered in late August and September these camps get players back up to speed for the coming tryouts. There are 5 x 90-minute skates offered. Basic skills, hustle and a few tactics are taught to the Players in 90-minute sessions.

Private Training (1 – 2 players) Teaching players 1 on 1 allows a Coach to focus on just 1 Player and then to improve or correct weaknesses. I do hundreds of privates a year typically players have 10 or more privates a year.

A private lesson provides the greatest training possible and I have received many compliments after a single session and the Players love it.

A private is a different environment, a quiet and focused environment with 100% of the focus on just your player.

It is easy to point out and to correct all possible shortcomings.

It may be just 1 session to work on a specific problem or a continuous training regime combined with the Coach watching the player play to determine what needs to be worked on.

The ideal private is for 2 players of equal calibre so one can work while the other watches and learns.

A private lesson can teach anything the Player wishes to improve on. Often, I am training all the kids from a family.

Team Training. As a professional Hockey Coach, I am often engaged to supplement the needs of a Team. My perspective and counsel is objective and clear of parents and social pressures

I simply prescribe what is needed and deliver it. Almost every need can be addressed except goaltending.

Advance notice and identification of a problem is needed or Coach can come out and watch the team to identify priorities.

Video Training. Let’s go to school and learn how to play better. Powerful, cost & time effective and easy to incorporate into your busy schedules.

Video Training is done via a Teams call and one of your recent games is shared via the Coaches screen.

Parents are encouraged to participate and to ask questions. Players keep notes on a worksheet for future reference.

We simply set up a Teams call and watch, talk and learn. ASK questions and pay attention there may be some 3 push up bets.

  1. You provide the game video to watch, ideally on Live Barn or Facebook.

Training can be arranged for: 1 on 1, 1 on Coach, 1 on D men, 1 on Forwards. I keep it focused, positive and director and I look to leave the player(s) with 3 lessons per session.

The proof is in the pudding so to speak.

Currently I have clients in several provinces and states aged 8 to 17.

Sessions are saved and sent to the Client for reference.
